Dr. Brian K. McFarlin, Ph.D., FACSM is a Professor of Exercise Physiology and Nutrition at the University of North Texas, where he also holds a joint appointment in Biological Sciences and serves as Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies and Research in the College of Education. He is Co-Director of the Applied Physiology Laboratory and Director of the UNT Bioanalysis Center. Dr. McFarlin’s research focuses on the intersection of exercise, nutrition, and chronic disease prevention, with a particular emphasis on innate immune function, inflammation, and biomarker discovery.

With over 130 peer-reviewed publications and more than 7,600 citations, Dr. McFarlin is recognized internationally for his work on immune responses to exercise, dietary supplementation, and metabolic health. His research has been supported by numerous industry and federal grants, and he has led or collaborated on over 40 funded projects. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and has served in editorial roles for several scientific journals, including METHODS and Frontiers in Physiology.
